Hot off the Geeksters.org press (don't hurt yourself reading it), Google has opened Gmail to everyone now without having an "invitation".

I'm sure that Gmail usage will increase simply becuase their very clean interface and sheer amount of storage space available.  Also, by signing up for a Gmail account, that will make all of the Google apps such as Gtalk available for your use.

Call me selfish but I kind of preferred it to stay 'exclusive'. But that is wishful thinking. I have never tried Google talk but I regularly use the chat thing in Gmail and it keeps getting 'cut off' as it is... especially when you're downloading a vid from within Gmail while chatting. Now it goes with the territory to expect getting 'cut-off' more often.
