Many sources, including my Geeksters.org site are reporting Microsoft's bid for Yahoo. http://www.geeksters.org/modules/news/article.php?storyid=760 Microsoft has offered the Yahoo board of directors 62 percent over what Yahoo was worth after the close of stock trading yesterday. Yahoo has been rebuffing Microsoft overtures for the past two years. A deal like this could radically change Yahoo as we know it as Microsoft integrates the portal into their system. It would probably not be a pretty sight. Yahoo also purchased the open source mail software Zimbra and this deal could put that project into limbo as well. Yahoo Messenger and Chat could be changed to include all the cruft and bloat of Windows Live / Messenger. My hope is that either Microsoft's offer is rejected or that the government will block such a deal.
